HISTORY OF THE HOUSE: ORIGIN

Oliver & Oliver is undoubtedly one of the world’s finest craft rum producers. Founded in the 19th century in Cuba and now based in the Dominican Republic, their original family formula blends tradition with modern elegance, resulting in a distinctive style.

The roots of this family of high-quality rum producers trace back to the mid-19th century. It all began with the arrival of Spanish officer Juanillo Oliver, originally from Mallorca, in Cuba. After completing his military service, he decided to settle on the island.

In Cuba, he established a prosperous estate focused on tobacco and sugarcane cultivation. Later, he shifted his attention to the artisanal production of rums, which brought fame and fortune to his family. However, with the Cuban Revolution in 1959, part of the family relocated outside the island.

Pedro Ramón Oliver, a member of the younger generation, returned to Cuba in the 1980s and unearthed ancient records and documents. Among them was a description of the original recipie for the Oliver family’s rum production, which had gained significant renown in the 19th century.

Inspired by this discovery, Pedro embarked on rum production in the early 1990s. This time, he chose the Dominican Republic due to its similar climate to Cuba—a fitting place to revive the famous Oliver rums. Today, Oliver & Oliver stands as one of the world’s premier rum producers.

Blending the family’s original formulas with modern elegance, they create distinctive rums in the Dominican Republic. Oliver rums are renowned for their high quality, enticing aromas, and rich flavors. These exceptional rums age in American and French oak barrels previously used for Bourbon, Sherry, Tequila, Cognac, Scotch Whisky, and Port. Notable flavor nuances include malt, vanilla, figs, and nuts.

Elaborated Exclusively for Luis Caballero: Ron Contrabando Añejo Superior 5 Aged using the solera system in American and French oak barrels that previously held Cognac, Bourbon, and Sherry. The Black Rum Contrabando Gran Reserva 15 combines the best of two worlds: the smooth and elegant rums of the Dominican Republic, refined through the use of Lustau barrels that once held Pedro Ximénez.
